It’s no secret that Charlotte Tilbury has become one of my most favourite makeup brands. From her Magic Foundation to her iconic makeup looks, there’s nothing you won’t love. Recently I’ve had the opportunity to try out her infamous Dolce Vita Palette ($64 CND) and I haven’t been able to put it down for weeks. If you’ve seen my Instagram lately, you’ll notice that it is the only palette that I’ve used on my eyes. It’s sheer perfection — minus the sheer. The pigmentation is incredible. I’ve tested plenty high end beauty palettes but none with this type of payoff. This palette absolutely glides on the lids like butter and blends like a dream. If you’re looking for a warm toned, shimmery palette this is a must have in my books.
This palette isn’t for the faint at heart but if you’re looking for something to mesmerize that special something this will surely do the trick. As you can see on the swatches above the shades work amazingly on all skin tones but I think they will mesh perfectly with medium-to-dark skin. The prime, enhance and smoke shades (two up top and bottom right) have very finely milled shimmer that can be amped up or subdued for a day look… but my favourite has to be the pop shade (bottom left). It’s just the right amount of glitter without going over the top.
I love that Charlotte Tilbury includes photos of how to use this palette from day to night! For my look below, I took the Enhance shade as my transition colour and swept it in back and forth blending upwards along my crease. I concentrated the colour more towards the inner part of my crease and buffed it up, while tapering it towards the end of my crease. I like to have a deeper crease lately so I used the Smoke shade with a pencil brush and really packed that into my outer crease without buffing it out too much. The Pop shade was perfect to bring out my eyes and I packed that on the center of my lids. I then took the Prime shade and swept it across my brow bone and inner corner. I love a good smoked out lower lash line so I took the Enhance and Smoke shades and blended them together. I finished off my eyes with my signature cat eye and some falsies.
