I was never blessed with great hair. It’s always been limp, thin and very dehydrated. My hair care routine can also be quite boring. I’d usually come out of the shower and if there’s no where for me to go, I’ll just air dry. I rarely, if ever, use any hot tools or products because well… it normally goes up in a bun. With my current postpartum hair loss happening, I can’t help but want to do anything and everything to save what I have. I take care of my skin as much as possible but what about my hair? I realized that as I get older this too should become a priority.
Meet Kérastase Nutritive. For the last month, I’ve been putting the Fondant Magistral ($48) and Creme Magistral ($48) to the test. During pregnancy my hair was at it’s best: thick, long and lustrous without having to do much. Good ‘ol pregnancy hormones While I may have to wait a bit for my hair to grow back, I still want to maintain a healthy set of locks.
“With the invention of long-lasting nutrition, Kérastase Nutritive acts on both the cause of hair nutrition loss—oxidation—as well as on the consequences—dryness. The Nutritive line offers different levels of haircare repair for dry hair. The first level nutrition Nutritive Irisome is ideal for normal to dry hair. For very dry and sensitized hair, the Magistral line is perfect and will protect against heat tools.”
Kérastase Fondant Magistral is a must have for those with severely dry hair. I love that this revives the dullness that I have and makes my black hair look blacker with added shine. It hydrates without adding any weight or greasy feel which is what most conditioners on the market tend to do to me. I reach for this 2-3 times a week after I’ve shampooed and wash it out after 3 minutes. The results can be felt almost instantly and I love that my hair looks less damaged with each use.
What’s beneficial about Kérastase Creme Magistral is the intense nourishment that it provides. The texture is so lightweight as it provides a lively fiber suppleness and shine to the hair. What’s also great is that it provides optimal thermo-protection so you need not worry about heat damage when you’re styling your hair. Think of this as your leave-in conditioner. On towel dried hair, I like to take a small amount, rub it into my hands and apply it down the length and ends. If you plan on blow drying afterwards it gives the most amazing shine and smooth finish. I also like to tame any flyaways or add further smooth-sation and add a little bit more after styling.
