I recently shared on social media a picture of my clear skin and I’ve been bombarded with questions about what products I used to help get rid of my acne. I had extremely congested skin. It was bad. Like, REALLY bad. I’ve struggled for 2.5 years with this and while some products worked… it wouldn’t last. It’s like my acne was saying “Nah Honey, I’m here to stay!” It was a never ending battle but I’ve found some great products that really worked for me and hopefully will work for you as well.
I decided to break up the posts over the next few weeks because there’s too much to cover in just one post. Today, I wanted to share with you my favourite decongesting mask. Origins Clear ImprovementActive Charcoal Mask to clear pores. I picked this up at Sephora ($21 – 1.7oz / $29 – 3.4oz) about 6 months ago and it’s been a weekly staple in my routine.
I’ve heard many people rave about this and as I was leaving Sephora one day it caught my eye. I got the smaller tube but it’s lasted me the whole 6 months — remind me to pick up the larger version & some back ups — Best decision I’ve ever made.
-Active Charcoal: Absorbs 100- to 200-times its weight in impurities.
-White China Clay: One of the gentlest and most effective clays, it draws out impurities and toxins while clearing the skin of excess oil, dirt, pollutants, and other waste materials.
On Pampering Sundays – it’s my day to do me boo – I love to have a nice steamy hot shower to open up all of my pores and once I’m out and done drying myself, I slather this on my face. You only need about a nickle or quarter size. It get’s tingly and I like to think that that’s when it’s working. I let it dry and maybe sit around for and extra 10-15 mins after then rinse it off. After each treatment I love how fresh and glowing my skin is. The mask doesn’t dry out your skin and it looks even better the next day.
After many month’s of use, those small congested bumps I’ve had on my face are gone. It did not cure my cystic acne but it helped calm it down tremendously. This is the perfect treat for us busy bees with congested skin that needs a bit of calming.
Stay tuned for my next post on my favorite acne spot treatment.
